BYD detailed the technical rollout and European commercial availability of its Dolphin G DM-i plug-in hybrid on October 2, 2026. The vehicle expands the automaker's compact lineup into plug-in super hybrids, delivering a total combined WLTP driving range of up to 1,040 km and exceeding the 1,000 km threshold.

The powertrain pairs a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine with a 163 cv front electric motor, generating a combined maximum output of 212 cv in its top trim. The Dolphin G reaches a top speed of 180 km/h, accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, and records a weighted WLTP fuel consumption of 1.4 liters per 100 km with a charged battery.

BYD offers two Blade battery variants: an entry-level 7.42 kWh pack delivering 40 km of pure electric WLTP range, and an 18.3 kWh pack providing 105 km in electric-only mode. Built on a 2.61-meter wheelbase, the car measures 4.16 meters in length, 1.825 meters in width, and includes 425 liters of trunk space.

In Spain, pricing starts at 25,200 euros for the base configuration and reaches 30,700 euros for the upper trim. Automotive media estimates Brazilian retail pricing between 130,000 BRL and 150,000 BRL for its 2027 arrival, matching or undercutting the 150,000 BRL reference price of the all-electric Dolphin EV.
