BYD vehicle sales rose 17% in September to 463,561 units
Strong overseas demand drove a 153.9% jump in monthly exports of cars and pickups.
BYD posted its fifth consecutive month of global sales growth in September 2026. The Chinese electric vehicle maker delivered 463,561 vehicles during the month, representing a 17% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
The monthly pace showed a slight deceleration from the 17.8% expansion recorded in August. Strong international shipments helped offset persistently soft demand in China, where rival Geely recently introduced a faster vehicle charging system.
Exports of cars and pickups jumped 153.9% year on year to 179,877 units in September, according to Reuters calculations based on company data released on October 1, 2026. Over the first nine months of 2026, BYD sold a total of 3,131,576 vehicles, of which 1,337,831 were shipped abroad.
Looking ahead, BYD expects its annual exports to exceed 2.5 million vehicles in 2027, according to equity brokerages.
