BYD launches 1,500 kW fast chargers in Brazil

BYD has begun rolling out its ultra-fast charging network in Brazil by opening the country's first Flash Charging terminal in Brasília. The station delivers up to 1,500 kW per connector, which allows compatible electric vehicles to recharge from 10% to 70% in five minutes, providing up to 400 km of driving range.

The new terminal can also charge batteries from 10% to 97% in approximately nine minutes. Developed under BYD Group luxury brand Denza, the system was officially presented in Brazil during the Interlagos Festival in São Paulo. The company targets installing 1,000 Flash Charging stations across the Brazilian market by the end of 2027.

The Denza store in Brasília will be the first location to operate the T-shaped station. It features a Zero-Gravity pulley mechanism designed for one-handed handling of heavy cables, as well as Plug and Charge automated billing. The setup will initially serve luxury models such as the Denza Z9 GT shooting brake and the Denza D9 electric minivan.

To prevent strain on the local electrical grid, the system uses integrated internal battery storage. This architecture lets the station supply peak power without relying on sudden grid surges, allowing deployments in areas with limited power distribution infrastructure.
