MSCI Merval and MSCI BYMA Argentina General will go live on October 19, 2026.
Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos announced a strategic alliance with MSCI, which will manage and calculate Argentina's main equity indices. The agreement aims to strengthen domestic financial infrastructure and align it with global market standards.
Under the partnership, two new reference benchmarks will be launched: the MSCI Merval Index and the MSCI BYMA Argentina General Index. These indicators will replace the current S&P Merval index and the BYMA General Index, respectively.
The new indicators are scheduled to launch on October 19, 2026. BYMA said it will release a detailed transition schedule and operational details for market participants in the coming weeks.
According to BYMA, adopting MSCI methodology will provide domestic and international investors with a globally recognized framework to track Argentine stocks. The alliance also lays the groundwork for developing new financial products and investment solutions tied to the benchmarks.
