Casas Bahia faces eviction over BRL 4.3 million rent default
Real estate fund HSI Logística filed the lawsuit on October 8, 2026.
Brazilian real estate fund FII HSI Logística, managed by HSI, filed an eviction lawsuit on October 8, 2026, against retailer
Casas Bahia for unpaid rent. The fund stated in a material fact released on Friday evening that the company failed to pay BRL 4.3 million for the month of September to occupy logistics warehouses located in Contagem, Minas Gerais, and São José dos Pinhais, Paraná.
The fund argued that because the debt arose after Casas Bahia filed for judicial recovery on August 16, the obligation is an extra-concursal claim and is not protected by bankruptcy proceedings. During August, Casas Bahia paid only BRL 2 million of its rent because half of the monthly amount was sheltered by the judicial recovery filing.
Casas Bahia is the main tenant of HSI Logística, accounting for about 30% of the fund's revenue. HSI Logística has a market value of BRL 1.1 billion and more than 40 thousand investors. The fund's shares dropped almost 18% in the first three weeks of August in response to the retailer's crisis.
