Luck Stone deploys autonomous Cat 775 fleets after hauling over 3.5 million tons in an 18-month pilot.
On 15 September 2026, Caterpillar announced an agreement with Luck Stone to expand its autonomous hauling technology to two additional quarry operations in Virginia. The rollout follows an 18-month pilot at Luck Stone's Bull Run Quarry, where autonomous trucks moved more than 3.5 million tons since going live in November 2024.
The expansion will deploy Caterpillar's autonomous hauling solution across two fleets of Cat 775 trucks at Luck Stone's Boscobel and Bealeton facilities, supported by local dealer Carter Machinery. This project marks the first time Caterpillar will operate its autonomous haulage solution on the Cat 775 model, alongside complementary systems for loaders and support equipment.
Globally, Caterpillar autonomous trucks have hauled more than 13 billion tonnes and traveled more than 455 million kilometers without reported injuries during operations. Caterpillar recorded $64.8 billion in sales and revenues for fiscal year 2025 across its construction, resource, energy, and financial divisions.
