The bottler hit its 1.26-liter target and avoided a 25 basis point penalty rate increase.
Coca-Cola FEMSA announced on 3 September 2026 that it fulfilled its water efficiency target tied to its sustainability-linked bonds. The bottler recorded a water use ratio of 1.26 liters per unit volume of beverage produced as of August 2026. This metric matched the sustainability performance target committed for 2026.
By meeting this environmental objective, Coca-Cola FEMSA avoids a step-up penalty of 25 basis points on its interest rate. That penalty would have taken effect on 17 September 2026 without the confirmed water reduction.
The result represents a 20% reduction in water consumption compared to the company baseline. Coca-Cola FEMSA has invested a cumulative 82 million USD in water management technology and efficiency programs since 2022 to reach this level.
The commitment is tied to the KOF 21L bond series issued in September 2021 with an aggregate principal of 6,962 million MXN. Those notes have a 7-year maturity, carry an original fixed coupon of 7.36%, and pay interest every 182 days as part of a larger 9,400 million MXN dual-tranche debt placement.
