Crusoe develops Google AI data center in Texas

Crusoe announced on September 28, 2026, that it is the developer of Google's new data center campus in Armstrong County, outside Amarillo, Texas. The facility is engineered to provide infrastructure and computing capacity to power advanced artificial intelligence workloads.

The campus connects directly to Serena's adjacent wind assets. These include the operational Goodnight 1 wind farm with 265.5 MW of capacity and the Goodnight 2 wind farm, also offering 265.5 MW, which is currently under construction. When wind generation exceeds the campus energy demand, surplus electricity flows back into the grid, helping lower West Texas wind curtailment.

For cooling, the site uses a closed-loop, non-evaporative liquid cooling system designed to limit water consumption mostly to domestic needs such as kitchens. Construction began in June 2025 and currently engages more than 5,500 skilled workers on-site each day. Google also supports local community programs through its Energy Impact Fund, backing efficiency upgrades for public buildings and homes across Armstrong County.
