Meta promotes Tucker Bounds to head global communications

Meta Platforms is reorganizing its communications and public affairs leadership, according to internal memos reported by Axios on September 28, 2026. Long-time executive Tucker Bounds has been elevated to head global communications. Predecessor David Ginsberg is transitioning into an artificial intelligence product position.

Bounds most recently directed communications for Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg. Under a multi-year succession plan, Bounds will now oversee public messaging across corporate, product, internal, and CEO communications as Meta faces regulatory scrutiny, platform safety challenges, and large infrastructure investments.

Ginsberg will take on the role of Vice President of Product, Insights Innovation. He joined the company in 2017 to lead research and later guided public affairs through major regulatory and corporate crises. In his new role, Ginsberg will collaborate with Chief Data Officer Alex Schultz to evaluate how artificial intelligence can improve user research and product development.

The leadership change coincides with Meta's push into artificial intelligence, including the recent rollout of its personalized assistant, Muse, and the continued release of open-source models. Meta also continues to address legal headwinds, including a recent $16.7 billion settlement with state officials regarding youth safety on its platforms.
