Dell joins $15 billion AI project in Japan
The Chiba data center venture with Jera and Rhaelm targets 400 MW of capacity by 2029.
Dell Technologies has partnered with Japanese power producer Jera and British infrastructure manager Rhaelm Holdings to build an artificial intelligence infrastructure project in Chiba, Japan. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding on October 1, 2026.
The total investment for the venture is estimated at 15 billion dollars, or about 2.3 trillion Japanese yen. The planned facility is designed with a power capacity of 400 MW to host advanced AI workloads.
Under the plan, a power supply agreement will run for a minimum duration of 15 years to a maximum of 25 years. Initial phased operations are targeted to begin in 2028, with the site expected to reach full operational capacity in 2029.
