FedEx orders 2,000 electric trucks from Harbinger for $300M

FedEx is ordering 2,000 electric trucks from electric-vehicle startup Harbinger in a deal valued at $300 million. Harbinger plans to deliver the entire order of medium-duty commercial truck chassis by the end of next year, the manufacturer told TechCrunch.

Bloomberg News first reported the transaction on Wednesday. The agreement represents the largest bulk purchase to date for Harbinger, which was founded in 2022 by former employees of Anduril, Canoo, and Quantumscape.

The delivery giant previously led a $160 million Series C funding round for Harbinger late last year. Harbinger has already handed over 53 trucks to FedEx as part of an earlier order placed alongside that capital raise.

Harbinger has recently diversified into hybrid emergency vehicles, defense applications, and battery-pack energy storage sales. The manufacturer also acquired an autonomous driving business in February, while Axios reported in May that the startup is exploring an initial public offering.
