Ford recalls Mustang models in Brazil over electrical wiring flaws

Ford announced on 22 September 2026 a recall in Brazil covering Mustang models from model years 2024 through 2026. The automaker stated that the issue involves grounding terminals in the engine compartment wiring harness, which can break because of a manufacturing defect.

Depending on which terminal breaks, the fault can cause a loss of motive power, failure of the front headlights, inoperability of the windshield washer fluid pump, or malfunctions in the air conditioning and engine cooling fan. Ford warned that reduced visibility, loss of power while driving, and inoperative washers increase the risk of accidents with potential harm to vehicle occupants and third parties. Drivers may also notice engine warning lights, instrument panel alert messages, or chime alerts.

The recall involves three model-year chassis ranges: 2024 Mustang chassis from R5412950 to R5434492, 2025 Mustang chassis from S5405308 to S5504022, and 2026 Mustang chassis from T5409219 to T5503389. Ford has not yet stated how many total units are affected in Brazil.

Ford plans to replace the engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals free of charge. Dealership repairs are scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2027 once parts become available, and the company will issue a new notification so owners can schedule their service.
