GE HealthCare buys SOFIE Biosciences for $945 million
The cash deal secures 15 manufacturing sites and rights to a Phase III radiotracer in the United States.
GE HealthCare announced on October 5, 2026, an agreement to acquire SOFIE Biosciences from Trilantic North America for $945 million in cash. The transaction is scheduled to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and standard closing conditions.
The acquisition expands the footprint of GE HealthCare's Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx) segment in the United States supply chain for positron emission tomography (PET) radiopharmaceuticals. SOFIE Biosciences operates a network of 15 contract manufacturing sites with 21 cyclotrons, alongside a theranostics-focused development and manufacturing site.
Through the transaction, GE HealthCare also obtains U.S. rights to FAPI-74, a Phase III PET radiotracer with pan-cancer imaging potential, adding to its existing rights outside the country. F18 labeled PET products have a half-life of 110 minutes, making localized production critical for patient delivery.
Kevin O'Neill, President and CEO of the PDx segment at GE HealthCare, said that SOFIE Biosciences is expected to grow in the low double digits as part of the group. GE HealthCare projects the acquisition will be accretive to revenue growth, adjusted earnings before interest and taxes margin, and adjusted earnings per share in its first full year of ownership.
Following the close, SOFIE Biosciences will continue operating as an independent manufacturing partner to third-party customers while producing GE HealthCare products, including its Flyrcado injection.
