The SaaS tool predicts hospital bottlenecks up to 72 hours ahead.
GE HealthCare announced on 15 September 2026 the launch of CareIntellect for Operations. The new cloud-based Software-as-a-Service application uses artificial intelligence to help health systems forecast capacity constraints up to 72 hours in advance across hospital units and departments.
The tool analyzes hundreds of operational and clinical data points, including bed availability, staffing, wait times, and patient delays. It uses two proprietary AI models: the Pressure Forecast model, which projects resource constraints, and the Estimated Day of Discharge model, which updates individual patient discharge timing hourly.
The Queen's Health Systems and Duke Health will serve as the first clinical sites to implement the application. The system runs on Amazon Web Services and is sold directly by GE HealthCare as well as through the AWS Marketplace.
The launch builds on the company's existing Command Center software, which is used by nearly 500 facilities worldwide. Since 2023, GE HealthCare has invested more than $5.1 billion in innovation across its operations and clinical portfolio.
