Shares dropped 2.6% despite the close of its flagship private-equity fund.
Goldman Sachs fell approximately 2.6% to $963.55 on Tuesday 15 September 2026. The decline came even as its asset-management division secured $11.7 billion across a new group of private-equity funds.
The total includes $9.6 billion for West Street Capital Partners IX, its flagship fund, which accounts for roughly 82% of the capital raised. The vehicle has already deployed more than one-third of its capital. Goldman Sachs also raised $1.6 billion for an Asia-focused strategy and $500 million for co-investment vehicles. The bank plans to invest the funds over roughly four to four-and-a-half years.
Goldman Sachs Alternatives managed $459 billion at the end of June. The business targets $750 billion in alternative assets by 2030, making this $11.7 billion raise roughly 2.5% of its current platform.
