Alphabet unit Google is nearing an agreement to buy nuclear energy from Constellation Energy, Bloomberg reported on October 6, 2026. The multi-year deal would see Google pay $1 billion or more to secure electricity for its rapidly expanding data centers.

People familiar with the discussions told Bloomberg that the transaction could be announced as soon as this week. The exact capacity and the location of the power generation have not been determined.

The reported deal follows a separate agreement last week between Constellation and Amazon, in which Amazon agreed to buy 690 megawatts of nuclear power. That contract included capacity from an upgrade at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear facility in Maryland.

Google has already signed multiple nuclear contracts to support artificial intelligence operations. Last year, the company agreed to purchase power from NextEra Energy to back plans to restart the Duane Arnold reactor in Iowa, which has been shut since 2020. In September 2026, Google also secured capacity from Southern Co. by funding upgrades at two nuclear plants.
