GPS announced on 8 October 2026 that it will buy back up to 8% of its shares in free float, according to a filing submitted to the market.

Under the approved plan, the company will repurchase up to 37.6 million shares in total. The primary goal is to maximise value for shareholders through what GPS described as an efficient management of its capital structure, serving as an additional way to distribute returns.

Buyback programs can also lower trading liquidity, as having fewer shares available on the exchange reduces daily traded volume and can make prices more sensitive to large trades.
