Dangote selected the group to supply technology for a planned 700,000 barrel-per-day facility.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has selected Honeywell to provide process technologies, licensing, engineering services, proprietary catalysts, equipment, and digital solutions for a planned 700,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Kenya. Once completed, the plant is expected to become the world's largest single-train refinery.
The expected project scope for Honeywell is approximately $300 million, similar to its work on Dangote's facility in Lekki, Nigeria. Applying established designs developed over nearly a decade of collaboration will cut the project development timeline by nearly two years, or roughly 30% faster than typical new builds.
The Kenya facility will produce gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and polypropylene. The site will feature operational flexibility to process crude grades ranging from light to heavy, reducing dependence on any single supply source.
Rajesh Gattupalli, President of Honeywell UOP, stated that large-train engineering designs will significantly reduce time-to-market while enabling the plant to handle diverse crude feedstocks. Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, noted that the partnership will help satisfy growing global demand for fuels and petrochemicals.
