Inbursa partners with CFE to enable digital utility payments

Grupo Financiero Inbursa, the banking group owned by businessman Carlos Slim Helú, has partnered with Mexico's state utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) to facilitate electricity bill payments across Mexican households. The agreement allows users to settle invoices digitally through the Inbursa Móvil application or across the bank's branch network, eliminating visits to CFEmático automated kiosks or customer service offices.

Under the integration, account holders can scan the barcode on their utility bill with their phone camera or manually input their 12-digit service number. Payments are accredited immediately regardless of the day or time, and transactions are authorized using a digital token before generating a downloadable receipt in PDF format.

The technological initiative aims to streamline basic utility payment management for the bank's clients. The platform provides continuous 24/7 access throughout the year, maintains historical transaction records for subsequent tax and payment tracking, and operates under Inbursa's data encryption and transactional security infrastructure.
