IonQ partners with SDT to bring Superion 256 to South Korea

IonQ announced on September 21, 2026, a multi-year strategic partnership with South Korea-based quantum technology company SDT, Inc. Under the agreement, IonQ will supply SDT with a Superion 256 quantum computer and its silicon-vacancy quantum memory module.

The collaboration expands the relationship between both companies from cloud software integration to physical hardware production, system assembly, and regional resale. SDT plans to deploy the Superion 256 system with an SDT customer in South Korea to develop a hybrid quantum-classical data center.

As part of the initiative, SDT will establish a dedicated quantum manufacturing and integration facility in Gumi, South Korea. The site will handle packaging and manufacturing for IonQ's memory modules, as well as the assembly, integration, and commissioning of quantum systems. The companies also plan to develop hybrid quantum-classical infrastructure for a domestic cancer center project focused on biomedical research.

The agreement broadens IonQ's existing presence in South Korea, where it already maintains partnerships with KISTI, SK Telecom, Hyundai Motor Company, Seoul National University, and Sungkyunkwan University.
