The multiyear agreement expands manufacturing capacity for optical networking chips in Vermont.
Marvell Technology shares jumped approximately 5.2% to $241.67 on Thursday, 17 September 2026, following a report from Reuters that the company secured expanded U.S. manufacturing support for its optical networking business.
The multiyear agreement with GlobalFoundries expands silicon-germanium manufacturing capacity at a facility in Vermont. The site will provide Marvell with additional supply for pluggable transceivers, near-packaged optics, and co-packaged optics, targeting data bottlenecks between artificial intelligence chips.
Neither company disclosed the added volume, minimum purchase commitments, or financial value of the contract. In its latest reported quarter, Marvell posted $2.74 billion in revenue as data-center sales grew 46%.
