Marvell showcases first 2nm optical demos for AI networks

Marvell Technology announced on September 21, 2026, that it is showcasing industry-first 2nm optical interconnect demonstrations at the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) 2026 in Málaga, Spain. The event takes place from September 20 to September 24, 2026.

The company is presenting 38 advanced technology demonstrations covering its AI infrastructure portfolio. The exhibits include the first 2nm 400G per lane optical PAM4, the first 2nm 800G ZR/ZR+ pluggable module with MACsec powered by the Libra DSP, and the first 2nm 1.6T ZR and coherent-lite O-band demonstrations.

Marvell is also displaying its 102.4T co-packaged optics platform featuring 200G-per-lane silicon photonics. The designs aim to reduce power per bit and increase bandwidth density as data center operators transition architectures from 1.6T to 3.2T and beyond.

Xi Wang, senior vice president and general manager of the Connectivity Business Unit at Marvell, noted that AI data center operators require optical interconnects that deliver higher bandwidth, lower power, and greater security across every network segment.
