MercadoLibre launches one-hour delivery in Brazil

MercadoLibre launched its new fast-delivery service on September 24, 2026, offering delivery within one hour for packages weighing up to 15 kilograms across any product category. The company is also rolling out one-hour delivery for pharmacy items, starting in São Paulo.

Pharmacy deliveries currently operate from stock at a single drugstore in southern São Paulo, featuring free shipping on orders from 19 reais. MercadoLibre plans to partner with 20 pharmacies in the city during the fourth quarter and will begin selling prescription medicines on its platform on September 25, 2026, competing directly with major chains such as RD Saúde and Drogaria São Paulo, where delivery fees start at 8 reais without free shipping.

Fernando Yunes, head of MercadoLibre in Brazil, said the goal is to increase speed beyond current levels. He noted that about 59% of company deliveries across Brazil and 75% in São Paulo currently arrive on the same day.

The company expects to end the year with 30 traditional fulfillment centers, up from 21 in the prior year. Counting other logistics facilities such as cross-docking spaces, sorting, and receiving hubs, MercadoLibre plans to reach 72 sites by the end of 2026, adding 20 new facilities this year for a 39% increase over the previous year.
