Paramount Skydance will change its corporate name to Skydance once it completes the acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Paramount CEO David Ellison announced the decision in a social media post on Friday, October 2, 2026.

Ellison stated that the leadership team wanted a name that gave the combined company its own identity without overshadowing Paramount, Warner Bros., or any of its other brands.

The companies plan to close the $110 billion merger next week. Paramount recently settled an antitrust lawsuit brought by a group of 12 state attorneys general, which received approval from a federal judge earlier this week.

Ellison, the son of Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, merged his film and television production studio Skydance Media with Paramount in 2025. Earlier this year, the company beat Netflix in the bidding contest to acquire Warner Bros.
