Petrobras CEO Magda Chambriard announced on September 21, 2026, that the state-run company is disclosing significant natural gas discoveries in Colombia alongside state-owned partner Ecopetrol. Speaking at the ROG.e 2026 energy conference, she noted that gas commercialization contracts in the country will also be released soon.
Chambriard stated that the company accounts for one third of Brazil's primary energy and will continue exploring new frontiers while maintaining rising production levels into the next decade. She highlighted recent progress in the Pelotas Basin in Rio Grande do Sul and the signing of eight exploration contracts in Ivory Coast.
The chief executive emphasized that mature fields remain a core priority for the company. Petrobras is investing in new technologies, including robotics, to extend the productive lifespan of these operational assets.
