RTX wins $20.7B multi-year missile contract

Raytheon, a business of RTX Corporation, received a five-year contract with two option years valued at up to $20.7 billion. The award was granted under the Department of War's Arsenal of Freedom initiative to accelerate AMRAAM missile production to record levels.

The contract follows an agreement announced earlier in 2026 between Raytheon and the Department of War. That framework supports the manufacturing of at least 1,900 AMRAAM missiles per year.

Raytheon President Phil Jasper stated that the company continues to invest in its workforce, technology, supply chain, and facilities to scale output for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and international partners. Jasper noted that AMRAAM provides beyond-visual-range capabilities with advanced guidance and electronic protection.

RTX nearly doubled production of the weapon in 2025 compared to 2024. The fifth-generation interceptor operates across 14 platforms in 44 countries, with more than 7,000 successful live fires in testing and combat. It also serves as the primary munition for air-to-air missions and the NASAMS air defense system.
