Uber adds live video tracking for Uber Teens rides in Mexico

Uber announced on Monday the nationwide launch of a live video streaming tool for parents and guardians using Uber Teens across all cities in Mexico where the platform operates. The feature allows guardians to view the vehicle interior in real time while their teenagers travel.

The live transmission streams from the driver's phone and is exclusively accessible to the guardian linked to the teenager's account. Access ends once the trip concludes, and the encrypted recording is saved as a backup for potential safety reports. The tool integrates into the app's Family Profile, which already tracks location and driver details.

Cecilia Román, safety communications manager for Uber in Mexico, said the company expanded the option nationwide to give concerned parents real-time supervisory tools tailored to urban mobility needs.

Uber Teens launched in Mexico in June 2024 for passengers aged 13 to 17. Only experienced drivers with the highest ratings and verified background checks can accept these rides. The service also includes PIN verification before boarding and RideCheck GPS monitoring to flag unexpected route deviations or stops.
