The Colombian neobank moves its debit card infrastructure to the cloud platform.
Visa and Colombian neobank Nequi completed the migration of more than 6 million accounts to Pismo, Visa's cloud-based processing platform. The move coincides with the tenth anniversary of Nequi, an entity of Grupo Cibest.
Pismo now supports the infrastructure behind the Nequi-Visa debit card. Currently, more than 6 million Colombians use this card virtually, while more than 900,000 hold a physical card.
Pismo operates a cloud-native platform based on microservices and APIs for processing cards and financial products. Leonardo J. Collado, SVP and General Manager of Pismo, noted that Nequi's transition positions Colombia as a regional benchmark in adopting fully cloud-based financial infrastructure.
The platform enables real-time payment processing, operational scaling, and tech developments such as artificial intelligence tools. José Lozada, Vice President of Value-Added Services for the Andean Region at Visa, stated that financial platforms must evolve at the pace of users to support modern digital experiences.
