Walmart México launched Sparky, a virtual assistant powered by artificial intelligence designed to help shoppers make smarter purchasing decisions. The retailer announced that the tool aims to create an easier and more efficient shopping experience.

Customers can access Sparky directly through the Walmart mobile app on Android and iOS. Users start a conversation detailing what they need and why, and the assistant provides recommendations tailored to their specific budget and requirements. The company noted that shoppers can use it to organize children's parties, plan weekly meals, or arrange family gatherings.

Karthicka Krishnasamy, Vice President of eCommerce at Walmart México, stated that the company is building technology that understands people and simplifies their daily routines.

The company also addressed user privacy concerns. Walmart México stated that Sparky incorporates mechanisms to operate under its existing data protection and artificial intelligence governance frameworks. The tool gives customers control over how their data is used or shared, including the option to request its deletion.
