XPeng names its robotaxi XPeng YOYO and opens signups
Public registration opened in China on October 8, 2026, ahead of broader commercial operations.
XPeng officially named its autonomous vehicle service XPeng YOYO on October 8, 2026. The Chinese electric vehicle maker opened online registration to the public in China through invitation codes and launched a dedicated portal on its official website. The rollout marks a shift from engineering trials to commercial operations.
The mass-produced vehicle rolled off the assembly line in Guangzhou in May 2026 and finalized an automated pickup and drop-off flow in July. In August, XPeng secured remote testing permission for intelligent connected vehicles in Guangzhou, allowing road testing without a safety driver on Class I, II, and III test roads. Prior to public registration, XPeng ran internal employee trials priced at 1 renminbi per ride to test billing and operating workflows.
Each vehicle runs on four in-house Turing AI chips providing 3,000 TOPS of computing power, alongside the company's VLA2.0 large model. The system operates without high-definition maps or LiDAR sensors. The interior features zero-gravity seats, massage functions, an entertainment display, and pre-boarding climate controls.
Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng outlined the commercial strategy, stating that XPeng will act as a technology supplier and ecosystem partner. Revenue will come from hardware sales, software services, and commission sharing, while offline fleet operations will be handled by third-party partners.
