XPeng announced on October 9, 2026, that it has taken on an international role in autonomous vehicle governance. The Chinese electric vehicle maker will serve as the OICA Secretary for the newly formed Task Force on Exchange of Scenario-Relevant Information (TF-ESRI). The group operates under GRVA/WP.29 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The task force is co-chaired by France and China. It unites regulators, vehicle approval authorities, technical experts, and automotive industry representatives to share operating data and practical driving scenarios. XPeng represents the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers within OICA, the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers. It will run task force administration alongside a secretary from SAE International.

The international initiative comes as vehicle safety standards such as UN R185 and GTR26 enter their implementation stages. TF-ESRI aims to share information regarding road environments, driving behaviours, safety metrics, and incident investigations to assist the rollout of autonomous systems and future mobility services across global markets.
