Qualcomm Technologies partnered with Tejas Networks to demonstrate Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) technology at the India Mobile Congress 2026 on October 9, 2026. The technology enables next-generation wireless networks to operate as radar systems, using communication signals to detect and track moving vehicles and drones without separate sensing equipment.

The setup combined Tejas Networks' 5G base station with Qualcomm Technologies' Radio Unit and Distributed Unit chipsets. The hardware runs on low-power computing and artificial intelligence inference to evaluate potential uses in traffic control, critical infrastructure monitoring, and broad-area environmental surveillance.

Our collaboration with Tejas Networks demonstrates wide-area sensing on live 5G infrastructure, showing how wireless networks can extend beyond connectivity to deliver real-time intelligence about their surroundings. For Qualcomm, this marks an important step in India's journey towards 6G, laying the foundation for sensing-based services that can create new value for operators and support more informed decision-making across industries.

Rajen Vagadia, President of Qualcomm India

Kumar N. Sivarajan, Chief Technology Officer of Tejas Networks, noted that ISAC allows telecommunications operators to commercialize spatial data across public safety, transportation, and industrial automation. Tejas Networks, which operates as part of the Tata Group, supplies network products across more than 75 countries.
