AbbVie partners with Valkai to expand AI in clinical trials

AbbVie announced a new collaboration on September 29, 2026, with Valkai, an artificial intelligence platform designed for the life sciences sector. The pharmaceutical company is investing in its digital infrastructure to accelerate the development of clinical trials and bring medicines to patients faster.

Under the agreement, AbbVie will deploy specialized AI tools across targeted areas of clinical research. The system aims to speed up data-driven insights, reduce manual processes, and support opportunities to shorten drug development timelines.

Nicholas Donoghoe, executive vice president and chief business and strategy officer at AbbVie, stated that the partnership helps teams generate insights faster as clinical data grows in volume and complexity, allowing personnel to focus on key decisions. Vignesh Rajendran, co-founder and CEO of Valkai, added that the collaboration combines artificial intelligence with AbbVie's scientific expertise.

The initiative forms part of AI@AbbVie, the company's broader framework to integrate artificial intelligence across research and development, operational workflows, and core business functions.
