Jetmaking chief Lars Wagner remains confident following quality issues with A321neo fuselages.
Airbus expressed strong support for its 2026 delivery target despite an industrial issue affecting its production line. Head of jetmaking Lars Wagner stated that he is very confident Airbus will reach its goal of about 870 commercial deliveries.
The remarks followed quality problems that impacted A321neo aircraft. Industry sources stated on Monday, September 28, 2026, that a flaw in fuselage components slowed deliveries more than expected during September. This delay leaves Airbus facing a record number of aircraft to deliver during an already congested fourth quarter to meet its annual targets.
Wagner spoke after the successful first flight of the new A350F freighter. He also noted optimism regarding the delivery of the first A350F unit in the second half of next year, which will follow a nine-month flight test program.
