AirTrunk to invest $1 billion in its Tokyo data centre campus
The Blackstone unit expands liquid-cooling capacity at its 300-megawatt flagship facility in Inzai.
Data centre operator AirTrunk, backed by
Blackstone, announced on October 7, 2026, a capital expenditure plan of $1 billion to deploy liquid-cooling infrastructure at its flagship Tokyo campus. The upgrade targets artificial intelligence workloads at the site located in Inzai, which has a power capacity of 300 megawatts.
The new commitment lifts AirTrunk's cumulative planned capital investment across its facilities in Japan to $8.0 billion. Across all of its planned campuses in the country, the operator targets a combined capacity of 530 megawatts.
A consortium led by Blackstone completed the acquisition of AirTrunk in December 2024 at a valuation of 24 billion Australian dollars. In March 2026, the company secured a green loan of 191.6 billion Japanese yen to support the development of the Tokyo facility.
