The agreement covers 690 megawatts and supports over $3 billion in Maryland infrastructure.
Amazon and Constellation announced a 20-year power purchase agreement on September 30, 2026, to back investments at the Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center in Maryland. The deal covers 690 megawatts of power, which includes approximately 190 megawatts of new emissions-free capacity scheduled to come online between 2030 and 2032.
The transaction will unlock more than $3 billion in infrastructure investment across the 1,790-megawatt nuclear facility. Alongside the long-term contract, the companies signed a retail supply agreement to power Amazon operations across the 13-state PJM regional market. The revenue certainty will also help Constellation pursue a 20-year relicensing for the plant.
All electricity produced at Calvert Cliffs will continue to flow directly to the PJM regional grid. Located in Lusby, Maryland, the plant generates around 80% of the state's clean energy, powers the equivalent of over 1.3 million homes, employs more than 800 people, and provides roughly $21 million in annual tax revenue.
Kerry Person, vice president of AWS Global Operations and Data Center Delivery, stated that the agreement sustains the operation and expansion of Maryland's largest carbon-free energy source while supporting local jobs. Joe Dominguez, chairman, president, and CEO of Constellation, noted that Amazon's commitment creates a base for future investments in both the facility and advanced nuclear technologies.
