Advanced Micro Devices plans to substantially increase its chip supply in 2027 to meet surging demand driven by artificial intelligence. AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su confirmed the strategy on October 6, 2026, during an on-the-record interview with reporters in Taipei.

Lisa Su explained that AMD plans its chip capacity and supply between three and five years in advance. The expansion builds on the company's previously announced investment commitment of $10.0 billion across Taiwan's semiconductor ecosystem, announced in May 2026.

The supply plans follow other major artificial intelligence investments by the company. On September 28, 2026, AMD agreed to acquire AI startup World Labs in an all-stock deal valued at $8.2 billion.

For the second quarter of fiscal 2026, AMD reported net revenue of $11.54 billion and adjusted diluted earnings per share of $1.66. That result beat Wall Street consensus estimates of $1.60 per share by 3.75%. Following these updates, AMD recently crossed the $1.0 trillion market capitalization milestone, with its shares trading at $633.91.
