The service reassesses content frequency amid plans to revamp the Health app.
Apple has cut a handful of employees from its Fitness+ division as it reevaluates the future of the subscription platform, Bloomberg reported. The layoffs took place the week prior to September 21, 2026, and affected workers tied to audio features such as the Time to Walk and Time to Run workouts on the Apple Watch.
Apple is not dropping its audio workouts entirely, but releases are expected to become less frequent. The reductions are viewed internally as an initial step toward broader cost cuts and restructuring for Fitness+, which competes directly with platforms such as Peloton. Apple is also considering integrating Fitness+ more deeply into a redesigned Health app that will feature educational video content and personal benchmarks.
The operational shifts come as markets track customer demand for the newly introduced iPhone lineup, including the foldable iPhone Duo. Apple shares fell 0.4% in overnight trading ahead of Monday, after gaining 1.2% over the previous week.
