Banco do Brasil enables digital accounts from birth
Parents can now open BB Cash accounts for children under eight via the app without branch visits.
Banco do Brasil has expanded access to BB Cash, its account tailored for children and teenagers, allowing it to be opened directly via the bank's mobile app from birth. Previously, opening a BB Cash account for children under eight years old required an in-person visit to a physical branch.
For minors up to 15 years old, parents only need to submit a birth certificate during the identification stage on the guardian's mobile phone. Teenagers aged 16 and 17 must provide a photo identification document. The bank has also removed the selfie verification step for select client profiles to reduce document submissions, though it did not specify which groups are exempt.
The initiative is part of Banco do Brasil's strategy to establish long-term relationships with clients from their earliest years of life. The goal is to provide a solution suited to the needs of children, adolescents and their families, while contributing to financial inclusion and our clients' digital experience.
In addition to simplifying registration, the bank introduced a Device Authorization Center. Through this feature, guardians can select which mobile devices are permitted to access their child's account and monitor transactions directly, aiming to bolster security and support early financial education.
