Year-to-date handovers hit an eight-year high despite a slower August.
Boeing delivered 418 aircraft through the first eight months of 2026, marking its highest delivery total for the period since 2018, when it handed over 481 jets. In August, the company delivered 51 aircraft, down slightly from July and below the 57 jets delivered in August 2025.
The 737 MAX drove the majority of August handovers with 41 aircraft delivered. Key customers included Southwest Airlines with nine jets, United Airlines with eight, and aircraft lessor AerCap with five. Boeing also booked 15 new gross orders during the month, comprising two 737 MAX jets and 13 787s for unidentified customers, with zero cancellations. That brought total net orders in 2026 to 453 through August.
Deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner slowed to four units in August, compared with nine in August 2025. Boeing stated the dip was not caused by production, supply chain, or certification issues. Through August, the planemaker delivered 54 Dreamliners and maintained its full-year target of 90 to 100 deliveries, which requires handing over an additional 36 to 46 jets by year-end.
In the monthly comparison, rival Airbus delivered 57 aircraft and booked 67 orders in August, compared with Boeing's 51 deliveries and 15 orders.
