Boeing wins firm order for 140 737 MAX jets from Avolon
The agreement is part of a 250-aircraft purchase that also includes Airbus models.
Aviation finance company Avolon announced a firm order on October 9, 2026, for 140
Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The deal forms part of a larger 250-aircraft commitment that also includes 110 aircraft from Airbus, comprising 75 A320neo family jets and 35 A330neo family jets, alongside options for 100 more aircraft.
Following the transaction, Avolon's total firm aircraft commitments rose to 749 aircraft. The orders remain subject only to approval by the shareholders of Bohai Leasing Co., Ltd., which owns 70% of Avolon, which is expected before the end of October 2026.
Andy Cronin, CEO of Avolon, said that agreements with Boeing and Airbus strengthen and extend the lessor's long-term delivery pipeline to support airline fleet renewals.
In its third-quarter 2026 operational update, Avolon reported that it acquired 10 aircraft and sold 29, with another 112 aircraft agreed for sale. Taking the new orders into account, Avolon's pro forma owned, managed, and committed fleet reached 1,342 aircraft across partnerships with 138 airlines in 62 countries.
