Boston Scientific recalls 982 StoneSmart units

Boston Scientific has initiated a voluntary global recall of its StoneSmart Connect Console due to a power adapter safety issue. The recall covers 982 units worldwide. In those devices, some power adapters may fail electrical safety testing because of higher than expected grounding resistance.

The company is notifying hospitals and healthcare providers globally to guide the identification and return of affected consoles. The impact remains centered on installation and quality assurance under recall reference Z-3188-2026, with no reports of patient harm cited.

At the same time, Arthur C. Butcher, who leads key endoscopy and urology portfolios within MedSurg, has announced his retirement. His retirement becomes effective on January 1, 2027, and his subsequent advisory role concludes by February 26, 2027.

The medical equipment group, with a market capitalization of about $63.7b, is also advancing a restructuring program aimed at achieving US$500m in savings by 2029.
