The Peruvian miner is in talks with potential partners as it eyes production by 2031 or 2032.
Compañía de Minas Buenaventura S.A.A. is holding discussions with companies from five countries interested in developing its Trapiche copper project. Executive Benavides reported that the company has not finalized any agreements yet and remains focused on feasibility studies to add value to the asset.
Trapiche will require an investment of more than $2 billion. The company expects the copper project to enter production between 2031 and 2032.
The remarks came ahead of Andesmin 2026, a forum scheduled from October 29 to November 1 at the Canaan Convention Center in Ayacucho. The event gathers regional mining portfolios totaling around $15 billion across Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica, Ica, and Junín.
Buenaventura is also allocating more capital toward exploration across Peru. The company is actively conducting exploratory work in Cusco, Puno, Pasco, Cajamarca, and Apurímac, while pursuing further opportunities at Tambomayo in Arequipa, around the Yumpag silver deposit in Pasco, and at La Zanja.
