The utility company also named Alexandre Ramos Peixoto as its board chairman.
Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais announced on Friday the election of Marco Aurélio Martins da Costa Vasconcellos as its new president. Vasconcellos is a lawyer with a background in legal affairs, management, and public administration. He previously worked across sanitation, mining, and industry sectors, as well as at Copasa and in the Minas Gerais state government. He had served as Cemig's deputy legal director since 2022.
The company also elected Alexandre Ramos Peixoto as the chairman of its board of directors. Peixoto is a career engineer at the utility and previously served as Cemig's president and as director of regulation and institutional relations.
Peixoto has experience at the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), and the Energy Research Office (EPE). Since 2023, he has also held the role of board chairman at the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE).
