Brazil energy regulator Aneel authorized the restart of two generating units following major flood repairs.
Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais restored commercial operations at generating units UG1 and UG2 of its Paciência hydroelectric plant. Brazil energy regulator Aneel cleared the return of the units following repairs from severe flooding in the state of Minas Gerais.
The plant is located in the municipality of Matias Barbosa. Flooding inundated the powerhouse, with internal water levels reaching approximately 1.2 meters. The floodwaters submerged critical electrical and mechanical systems, damaging generators, electrical components, and auxiliary equipment.
A technical note from Cemig stated that generating unit UG03 is in the final phase of maintenance. The company expects this third unit to return to commercial operation in the coming days.
