Cemig opens substation in Uberlândia after R$ 62.4M outlay

Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais inaugurated the Uberlândia 11 substation on Saturday, September 26, 2026, located on the Anel Viário Setor Leste in Uberlândia. The facility is already operational following an investment of BRL 62.4 million.

The substation directly benefits around 72,000 residents and corporate clients such as bottler Uberlândia Refrescos. It has 50 megavolt-amperes (MVA) of installed capacity across two 25 MVA transformers, new 13.8-kilovolt (kV) medium-voltage circuits, and approximately three kilometers of associated transmission lines.

The project is part of a regional expansion plan. Cemig also invested BRL 62 million in the Uberlândia 12 substation in the Canaã neighborhood, which has 50 MVA of capacity and is scheduled for energization in the coming days. Together with the recently delivered Uberlândia 8 substation in the Shopping Park neighborhood, the three projects will raise the municipality's power capacity by 50%, lifting total installed capacity from 300 MVA to 450 MVA.
