Cigna launches Health Sense to cut inefficient spending 10%
The new customer care model aims to curb wasteful outlays by 2030 and begins rolling out in early 2027.
Cigna Healthcare, the health benefits division of The Cigna Group, introduced Health Sense on October 6, 2026. The personalized customer and clinical support model integrates details about an individual's care, benefits, expenses and past interactions. Cigna projects the service will cut inefficient healthcare spending by 10% by 2030, noting that roughly one-third of current industry expenditures are driven by administrative friction, missed interventions and duplicate care.
The platform will begin rolling out in early 2027, focusing first on oncology and cardiometabolic conditions. Research from the group's Evernorth unit indicated that six in 10 Americans are uncertain about their employer benefits, while 56% find managing care and vendor services frustrating. Evernorth also noted that the progression of cardiometabolic illnesses can elevate total care costs by at least 42% in a single year.
Health Sense embeds directly into existing Cigna services and the myCigna digital platform instead of operating as a separate application. Cigna pointed to existing management programs that delivered between 44% and 80% higher provider engagement, $5,851 in annual savings for oncology management goals, a 37% gain in colorectal cancer screenings, and 3.4 to 5.3 times higher participation in diabetes prevention solutions.
