Cisco partners with Bell on sovereign AI in Canada

Cisco and Bell Canada announced a memorandum of understanding on September 29, 2026, to collaborate on sovereign artificial intelligence infrastructure for Canada. The partnership aims to help Canadian businesses and public sector entities deploy, secure, and manage AI systems entirely within the country.

The joint initiative combines Bell's data centre footprint, connectivity, power, cooling, and operational management with Cisco's AI infrastructure, security, observability, and Sovereign Critical Infrastructure technologies. The collaboration targets organisations in government and regulated industries that handle sensitive data requiring domestic control and high resilience.

Work between the two companies will concentrate on three areas: developing a Canadian platform for sovereign AI, integrating Cisco AI PODs modular architectures for training and inference workloads, and designing flexible consumption models so enterprise customers can match costs with actual infrastructure use.

Raj Juneja, president of Cisco Canada, noted that the collaboration brings the company's critical infrastructure portfolio together with local data centre capacity to deliver configurable, secure setups that organisations can run with confidence.
