Deutsche Telekom targets €2.5B in AI savings by 2030
The company expects annual indirect cost cuts of $2.8 billion alongside higher sales outside the US.
Deutsche Telekom AG announced on Monday that it projects annual indirect cost savings of 2.5 billion euros, or 2.8 billion dollars, from artificial intelligence and automation by 2030. The company presented the targets during its AI Investor Day on October 5, 2026.
For operations outside the United States, the telecommunications group raised its 2027 gross savings target from AI and automation to 1.1 billion euros, up from a previous goal of 800 million euros. Cumulative savings from AI dedicated to fiber deployment between 2023 and 2027 are expected to reach between 100 million euros and 150 million euros.
Deutsche Telekom also updated its commercial projections for enterprise AI. Expected AI-related revenue from businesses outside the United States was lifted to 250 million euros for full-year 2026, compared with an earlier forecast of 200 million euros. By 2030, the company targets 800 million euros in AI-related revenue from business customers outside the US.
Operationally, the group reported that its Frag Magenta chatbot handled 2.6 million customer service interactions in the first half of 2026, while initial AI service deployments achieved a 30% reduction in customer complaints. At T-Mobile US, AI agents handle 40% of customer contacts, contributing to a 55% reduction in customer service calls. In network management, the RAN Guardian Agent reached a response time of 1 minute for network events, and the group has trained 100,000 employees under its AI for All initiative.
