General Dynamics names Danny Deep as CEO from 2027

Current CEO Phebe Novakovic will transition to executive chairman after leading the company since 2013.

General Dynamics announced on October 7, 2026, that its board of directors has elected Danny Deep as chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2027. Deep currently serves as president of the company.

Deep will succeed Phebe Novakovic, who will transition to the role of executive chairman after serving as CEO since 2013. Laura J. Schumacher, independent lead director, thanked Novakovic for her leadership and noted that the board has full confidence in Deep to continue that legacy.

Deep has spent 25 years at General Dynamics in roles of increasing responsibility. Before his appointment as president in 2025, he served as executive vice president of Global Operations, executive vice president of Combat Systems, and president of Land Systems.

Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the aerospace and defense company employs more than 120,000 people worldwide. General Dynamics generated $52.6 billion in revenue in 2025 across business aviation, shipbuilding, combat vehicles, weapons systems, and technology services.
